Birth

Birth and Early Life (1906)

Amar Shaheed Jubba Sahni was born in 1906 in Chainpur Basti under Minapur police station in Muzaffarpur district of Bihar. He belonged to a poor Mallah family. His father was Pachu Sahni. Due to poverty, formal education remained limited, but from childhood itself he developed deep patriotic feelings and a strong sense of justice.

Freedom Movement

Joining the Freedom Movement (1930)

Inspired by Mahatma Gandhi's call for civil disobedience, Jubba Sahni actively joined the Salt Satyagraha Movement in 1930. He travelled from village to village motivating people to boycott foreign goods, oppose British policies, stop paying Chowkidari Tax and participate in the national movement for independence.

1930
Protest

Brutality of British Rule (1932)

In December 1932, while protesting against liquor shops near Saraiyaganj Marwari Dharamshala in Muzaffarpur, British police attacked Jubba Sahni brutally. During the assault, three bones of his left ribs were broken. Instead of weakening him, this cruelty strengthened his determination to continue the struggle against colonial rule.

1932
Jail

Repeated Imprisonment (1932-1942)

The British Government considered Jubba Sahni a dangerous revolutionary. Because of his active participation in nationalist activities, he was imprisoned several times in 1932, 1934 and again during the Quit India Movement in 1942. However, repeated imprisonment never discouraged him from continuing his mission for freedom.

Quit India

Quit India Movement (1942)

In August 1942, Mahatma Gandhi launched the Quit India Movement. Jubba Sahni emerged as one of the prominent revolutionary leaders in Bihar. Under his leadership, people attacked symbols of British authority, hoisted the national flag and intensified resistance across the region.

1942
Minapur Revolution

The Historic Minapur Uprising (16 August 1942)

On 16 August 1942, Jubba Sahni led a historic uprising against the Minapur Police Station. During the confrontation, British police officer L. Waller was killed. To save dozens of his fellow revolutionaries from execution, Jubba Sahni bravely accepted complete responsibility for the incident before the British court, displaying unparalleled courage and sacrifice.

1942
Martyrdom

Supreme Sacrifice (11 March 1944)

The British Government sentenced Jubba Sahni to death. On 11 March 1944, at the age of only 38, he was hanged in Bhagalpur Central Jail. His martyrdom made him immortal in the history of India's freedom struggle and established him as one of Bihar's greatest revolutionary heroes.
